About the Youth Hack Challenge

The Youth Hack Crisis Challenge and Community Peace and Security Initiative is a project being implemented by the Humanitarian Innovation Foundation. Funded by the European Union in partnership with The British Council’s Justice Conflict and Security Program in Nigeria (MCN)

The Youth Hack Crisis Challenge is an innovative strategy designed to crowdsource solutions and ideas targeting the enhancement of the economic recovery post Covid-19 and insurgency in Adamawa State.
The goal of this youth focused innovative challenge is to get young people involved in solving the security challenges and economic challenges exacerbated by the out-break of COVID-19.
This intervention focuses on two strategic areas namely:

1. Youth Hack Security Challenge (Shillah Gang).
2. Youth Hack Covid Economic Recovery

Youth Hack Security Challenge

Youth tasked to find innovative solutions to Community Peace and Security issues as related to the Shila Security Challenge as well as other issues related to SGBV, health security, cyber security and community based security against rising cases of gangs, theft and kidnappings.

A total number of 6 Solutions will receive seed funding of N500,000 each to implement their solutions within the communities in Yola North, Yola South and Girei. Successful individuals and teams will be incubated at the HIF Innovation Campus.
Shila Security Challenge

Youth Hack Economic Recovery

In this category, young people get the chance to pitch their innovative business ideas to Post-pandemic Recovery that will drive economic recovery, create jobs and support community development. A total number of 10 Solutions will receive seed funding of N500,000 each to implement their solutions within the communities in Girei, Gombi, Song, Mayo-Belwa, Jada, and Numan. Successful individuals and teams will be incubated at the HIF Innovation Campus.
